Hi all, just wondering what everyone's thoughts are about Trump currently using 'weaponized uncertainty'?
E.g., the strategy behind creating so much uncertainty in the short term could include:
1. Short-term concessions from other countries re: trade.
2. Control over big corps (i.e., if they don't listen to him, he'll make their stocks plunge).
3. Short-term burst of income from tariffs, as it takes a while for companies to re-adjust.
4. Uncertainty might make some companies decide to build in the USA 'just in case'.
5. It makes the US come across now as a No-BS country in longer-term negotiations.
6. If Musk and Bezos, for instance, know what he's doing—uncertainty has made foreign investment leave the markets, tanking them, and the US is buying up super cheap—then he stops the uncertainty, etc.
Just a few possible reasons for his latest actions—would love to hear your thoughts!
