I received a letter notifying me of unclaimed funds in the state of NY in the name of my Grandmother (died in 1977) and my Mom (died in 2006). I contacted the NY office and filled out the paperwork to get the claim started but all they could tell me about the asset was that it was stock in the First Chicago Trust Co of NY. I tried researching them but I haven't come up with much information. It seems they are no longer an active company but I have no idea if they merged with another company or were bought out and if so what happened to the stock. If they went bankrupt the stock could be worthless. Bottom line is it's going to take at least 30 days to get a claim # from NY before I can find out what if anything the stock is worth. If anyone has any insight as to what this stock may be worth I'd really appreciate it. TIA.
