I'm finding this super useful for tracking how the stock market is going with this presidency compared to others. I purposely wanted to leave this post simple and not bring politics too much into it, but the sub is asking me to write more, so I'll write more below.

It's a truism that economy news is something everyone praises/blames the president for, despite the fact that most presidents can't change the economy that much on their own. It's interesting seeing Trump change that truth because he inherited a strong economy and immediately caused concerns in the market with all his tariff threats. It's not hard to imagine a second Trump term where he didn't threaten tariffs and the stock market was growing as quickly as his first term. But now that the trade war is in full effect, it's hard to imagine anything other than economic disaster resulting from this.
It was interesting to see that term is currently trending third from last. Worse results at this stage in the presidency were Obama (inherited the 2008 Great Recession) and Bush (inherited the dotcom crash and "irrational exuberance of the late 90s). If things keep going down in the market, the only comparison I see (going back 100 years) is Hoover, which isn't a fun thought.
Hope this simple graph helps others visualize things. And here's hoping for a rebound.
