what is the deal with those penny stocks that surge sometimes 100s % points?

can someone explain like im a 5 yrs old, what is the deal with those penny stock daily movers that go up 100 200 300 400 500 % + @ the open of the day?

most of the time before the opening not even worth a dollar & get to $5 $6 $7 $8 or more, how / do that happen?
