Per FT and CNBC, OpenAI told investors its annualized revenue was approaching $50B at the end of September. The \~$70B figure reported last month reportedly included partners' gross sales, closer to how Anthropic counts.
OpenAI also told investors its run rate grew 77% in Q3, with enterprise up 107%. None of this is audited, and it's revenue, not profit. OpenAI is still private, with an IPO reportedly pushed to 2027.
AI names sold off on the report Thursday (intraday, per CNBC): CRWV about -8%, ORCL -6%, INTC -5%, SMCI -5%, AMD -4%, AVGO -4%, NVDA -3%.
Is a lower but cleaner number a reason to sell, or a chance to buy at these prices? Which of these would you add here, if any?
