$MCD: Heavy Volume as a Doji Prints at the 52W Low

**$MCD** printed a **doji** at 248.24 on 2026-09-18 as the decline from the August high continued into a new 52-week low. The move has been persistent rather than a single sharp break: after reaching 276.26 in early August, price has worked lower for 31 sessions, with only brief interruptions along the way.

The obvious counter-argument is that **a doji at a new 52-week low** can simply reflect hesitation inside an ongoing decline, not a turn. That is exactly why the shape matters more than the name here. The session pushed to a fresh low, but the close finished much closer to where it opened, showing that the selling pressure that carried $MCD down through the day did not translate cleanly into the final close. With **RSI at 31.69 and relative volume at 2.00x,** there was also considerably more activity around this pause than an ordinary quiet session.

What I find interesting is where the doji arrived. Since the early-August high, $MCD has fallen steadily enough to erase the entire rebound from the late-July low. The doji is sitting at the end of that move, rather than appearing after a meaningful bounce. That makes the next few closes more informative than the pattern by itself.

For the setup to become confirmed, $MCD needs a close above the doji's high. A close below its low invalidates it, with a stop placed a few ticks below that low.

**How do you read a doji when it appears at a fresh 52-week low with heavy volume after a prolonged decline?**
