Been following HPQ Silicon (HPQFF) for a while and I think it’s worth putting on people’s radar. Still a very speculative microcap, but the story has gotten a lot more interesting over the last few months.
HPQ is basically pursuing two main commercialization plays, it seems:
\-Silicon-based batteries through Novacium. They’ve moved beyond lab results and into actual orders. In August they announced their first commercial GEN3 battery order for FPV drones destined for a French Army regiment. In September Novacium recieved an order for 100+ battery packs for Alta Ares interceptor drones, plus a separate French Army technical contract for prototype batteries for tactical radios. They’ve also been working with multiple European drone manufacturers and Tokai COBEX on anode materials.
\-Fumed silica through HPQ Silica Polvere. HPQ and PyroGenesis recently finalized a 50/50 ownership structure. Their process produces fumed silica directly from quartz in one step, avoiding the chlorosilane/HCl route used in conventional production. Pilot testing has produced commercial-grade material, and they’ve already received a 50 kg purchase order from an industrial customer for qualification testing.
There’s a guy that does a podcast where he has the ceo on every few weeks. Seems kinda weird but I’ve also decided it shows that these guys are just real, regular people. I believe in the business
We’re starting to see third-party testing turn into actual orders and commercial relationships. The initial orders are small and aren’t financially significant yet, but that’s pretty normal at this stage. The question is whether they turn into repeat and larger-volume business, which I think is likely.
There is obviously plenty of risk here. HPQ is still a microcap, commercialization isn’t guaranteed, capital requirements matter, and none of these early orders prove that HPQ will become profitable, etc etc
BUT if the battery business keeps getting traction in drones/defense and the fumed silica technology succesfully moves from pilot scale into commercial production, the current valuation could start looking very different. I’m wondering if anyone else is invested or has heard about this company? I’m in the red but own a substantial number of shares.
Ticker is HPQFF in the US / HPQ.V in Canada.
Definitely speculative. Worth doing your own DD
