I would like to gain a better understanding of how options influence market moves.
I was tracking the open interest on QQQ 09/18 contracts this week to see if I could learn anything. I don't think I learned anything.
One thing I did notice is the massive open interest increase on the put side above $710 on the day of expiration.
Is there anything to be learned from data like this? The market made some massive moves going into the end of the week. It was a big expiration week and there were some big news events that influenced the moves.
For the record, I don't trade options. I trade futures. I use open interest to set and trade off levels.
