After a lot of consideration, I’ve decided to go full port into Alphabet for a 10 year hold, so I can go back to work basically and not worry.
Whenever I see threads asking what the best stock or company to own for the next 10 years is, Google seems to be the overwhelming choice. For me, it mainly comes down to risk/reward.
**Ways to win**: Search / YouTube / Android / Chrome / Maps / Waze / Gmail / Workspace / Google Cloud / Gemini / DeepMind / TPUs / one of the biggest advertising businesses in the world
**Distribution**: AI may come down to distribution as much as model quality. Google has arguably the best distribution in the world outside Meta: Search / Android / Chrome / YouTube / Gmail / Maps / Workspace. It can push Gemini and new AI products to billions of users almost instantly. That’s a huge advantage.
**Youtube is TV**: YouTube is increasingly becoming TV, giving Google another massive advertising and subscription platform outside Search. If valued on it's own, it'd probably have a 1 trillion valuation.
**Enterprise**: Then there’s enterprise. Historically, Microsoft owns enterprise, while Google has been much stronger with consumers. For the first time, AI gives Google a real opportunity to attack Microsoft’s enterprise stronghold. Google now has: Cloud / Workspace / Gemini / its own AI chips / huge data centre infrastructure / cybersecurity / AI agents. It now has a much more complete enterprise stack than it did before.
Then there are the moonshots: Waymo / robotics / quantum computing / healthcare / whatever else comes out of DeepMind. My thesis isn’t that Google wins everything. It’s that it has so many different ways to win that the downside feels relatively limited compared with the potential upside.
I also do not want ETF's for my own reasons. I'd love to hear your views. Is there better companies out there or do you agree with Alphabet (I also do not want ETF's for my own reasons. but would love to hear your opinions on Alphabet or perhaps, better companies.) If you had to full port, would you choose google or someone else? Thank you
