Recently bought SOFI, MU and AMZN for the long term – what am I missing?
Recently started positions in SOFI, MU and AMZN and plan to hold them for the long term.
SOFI: I like the growth in members and products and the idea of having more and more financial services under one platform. I think there’s still a lot of room to grow if they can keep cross-selling successfully. My main concern is the valuation and how their lending business would hold up in a weaker economy.
MU: Mainly an AI/data center play for me. Memory demand, especially HBM, should benefit from the continued AI infrastructure buildout. Obviously the biggest risk is that memory is extremely cyclical and current demand/pricing may not last forever.
AMZN: Probably the one I feel most comfortable holding long term. AWS, advertising and improving retail profitability give it several different growth drivers. The main thing I’m watching is the massive AI capex and whether the returns on that spending justify it.
I’d be interested in hearing the bear case on any of these. What do you think I’m underestimating or missing?
Also curious what everyone here is currently buying or researching. If you have a high-conviction stock right now, what is it and what’s your actual thesis behind it? I’m looking for a few new companies to research myself rather than just ticker names.
