Taking half off feels sensible when a trade is up and you don’t want to watch it come all the way back. The cost is harder to notice on the trades that keep running. Simple example: half off at +2R, the rest exits at +6R. That’s +4R on the original position, before costs. Hold the whole thing to the same exit and it’s +6R. Of course, that assumes you actually sit through the pullbacks instead of bailing on all of it at +2R.
Has anyone compared both approaches on the same swing entries and changed how they take profits? What convinced you to switch? Especially keen to hear from ppl who went back to taking partials. Looking better in a spreadsheet and being something u can stick with are two different things?
