I almost used QRVO as confirmation for my SWKS swing until I actually read the merger terms
I was looking at SWKS after the big move and noticed QRVO was ripping alongside it. At first I took that as extra confirmation that buyers were coming into both names.
Then I actually looked at the deal.
QRVO holders get $32.50 cash plus 0.960 SWKS shares. With SWKS around $90 that puts the implied QRVO value around $118.90, while QRVO was trading around $118.
So QRVO following SWKS isn't really independent confirmation at all. The merger terms basically force the two to stay connected as long as the market believes the deal closes.
I traded a small piece of the SWKS move on Moon and execution was smooth, but this changed how I'm looking at holding it as a swing. I'm paying way more attention to whether the merger spread suddenly widens than whether QRVO also has a green day.
Feels like one of those situations where reading the corporate action matters more than adding another indicator to the chart.
