My best paper bot this week won 4 of 12 trades and still finished top of the desk. Do you rank a bot by win rate or by the one trade that carried it?
First session since the holiday: Dow off 1.1%, Brent near $100. My paper desks closed 381 trades today and lost $2,395. All paper.
The week's top bot, though, is a daily call buyer that holds three sessions. Twelve trades since Sep 1. Eight losers, four winners, up $5,863 paper. DELL made $4,053 of it. ZS lost $991, the worst one. Every one of the twelve left the same way: expired.
The loser beside it: a 15-minute call buyer on new highs, 0 for 10 today, down $1,818 paper, down $8,347 lifetime on 51 trades.
Context: these run on Quantradin, which I built. Paper money only, nobody's real account is involved. u/TracksHisMisses said here last week that every exit needs a date on it. The daily bot has one on all twelve. The intraday one has fifty-one, and they didn't help.
So when you size up a bot: win rate first, or the one trade that carried it?
