Everyone is gonna post the 1.67% Cu from today's NRED release.
Fair enough. That's a damn good number to see at surface. The 9 grab samples averaged 0.639% Cu, with results reaching 1.67% Cu + 0.433 g/t Au. But the part that got me digging through the PR was what they're targeting underneath those surface results.
NRED has now defined interpreted exploration targets roughly 650-1,800 ft below surface. At Lamont, AMT has already imaged roughly 4,900 ft deep and management interprets the data as showing 2 parent magmas with multiple pipe-like features extending upward. Add porphyry-style alteration, AB-type veins, stockwork and multiple intrusive phases at surface and there's finally a pretty clear reason for going deeper.
And all of this is happening roughly 6.2 miles from Hudbay's producing Copper Mountain mine, which hosts about 345 Mt @ 0.26% Cu + 0.12 g/t Au in P&P reserves. NRED interprets Wilmac as potentially sitting within a fault-offset portion of that broader intrusive complex. That interpretation still needs to survive drilling, obviously.
For me the 1.67% Cu gets attention. The 650-1,800 ft targets underneath it are what make me want to see the drill results.
Story is becoming more and more interesting with each release.
