Hi all, been lurking here but I don't think I've ever posted. I've been swing trading with a small account the last year and a half and really love it. Have also managed to have a small return. My issue is that I feel like my process is getting longer rather than more efficient. I ma struggling as to how to manage my watchlists. I essentially wind up with a really long list of potential stocks that I feel are either close to a setup and sometimes might be a bit away from a setup (like it might occur in a week or so. This leaves me with a long list of tickers that I am 'watching' and waiting for a setup. During that time, I try to manage my price levels on each ticker and identify the places where the setup would occur.
I'm curious as to what the average swing trader does with this situation? Should I separate the tickers into sector so that I can focus only on the ones that are flowing each day? Should I separate them based on how long away the setup may be (like 'tomorrow', 'next week' etc.)? Are there common ways I am just missing. My scans that I run are not meant to catch perfect setups, is that my problem? I generally catch them when they are at a certain place and then check in with them each day to see how they are advancing. I feel like there may be the occasional ticker that just repeatedly offers setups over time and I might even watch it for months or longer.
I hope this is clear. Just struggling with the glut of tickers I weed through these days. Thanks.
