Is anyone else watching Enablence Technologies (TSXV: ENW)? Everyone’s obsessing over the big chip names, but the real bottleneck in AI is heat and speed at the optical layer—and that’s exactly where these guys live.

Enablence makes PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) tech. Basically, as we push for 800G and 1.6T speeds, traditional hardware is hitting a wall. Their ability to jam complex light functions onto a single chip is a massive deal for the next wave of AI data centers.

They’ve been flying under the radar, but with the industry moving toward silicon photonics, their patent pile and "fab-lite" model look like they're ready to pop. They just reported 56% year-over-year growth, and they’re doubling their fab capacity to 4,000 wafer starts per month by 2027. If they fill that capacity, we could be looking at a $40M+ revenue run rate by 2028.

We’ve seen what happens to small-caps in this space once people catch on (just look at POET or LWLG). Is this a legit "picks and shovels" play for the AI boom, or are we still too early? If anyone is deep in the photonics world—are their PLCs actually going to be the standard for 2028?
