Should google consider liquidating their spacex holdings to fund their AI investments
First quarter of negative cashflow, and they announced an increase in capex. This caused a massive selloff. Whether you believe in the AI story or not, one thing is true: google needs more cash to fund this ai buildout.
They can either raise more debt or dilute shareholders, but another option could be selling some of their investments in stocks like spacex to raise more cash. If I'm the CFO, this would be something I would seriously think about given the current valuation, the higher lending rates and to reduce fears of more dilution from investors.
Not to mention spacex has become a monstrosity combining twitter and xAI which google already has a lot of exposure to given ads and their own AI offerings. If they want to bet on space, they can still keep a significant 1% stake while securing more cash for their balance sheet.
