Screening every US stock to find growth stocks. Down to 2,000 names, seeking suggestions.

**EDIT**: Not sure why this post is getting downvoted but assuming it’s because people think it’s impossible to get growth without extreme risk. This is not true. Risk is necessary for growth, but we don’t have to buy the riskiest companies to get growth. That’s an overly simplistic, black and white view of investing.

Started with a list of every US stock (excluding ETFs/funds) and ran a baseline filter for size and liquidity (market cap > $1B, TTM sales > $10M, Dollar volume > $1M/day).

From about 15,000 that narrows the universe to about 2,000. Now I want to identify the **growth** companies in that list that are worth spending time on. I want to avoid stuff that is **terribly risky**. My approach thus far:

**Sales growth is the most important**: TTM sales growth and current quarter vs. same quarter prior year. I am also looking at the derivative (aka growth rate of the growth) for both to see acceleration/deceleration.

**Profitability**: Gross margin and FCF/Sales.

**Debt load**: Debt/FCF

**Cyclical Risk (The 5-Year Trough)**: I'm comparing gross margin and FCF to their 5 year troughs to see if current numbers are abnormal.

**Affordability**: EV/Sales (primary affordability metric) and P/E (if it has earnings)

# How might you modify this approach so you can spend time on companies that are worth it?

Again, the goal is high growth without crazy risk.

**Any other metrics you would include?**

**Would you interpret the above metrics differently?**

Thanks for you help!
