Albertsons stock plunges as it says weaker grocery spending will cut into sales and earnings
Albertsons does business under a variety of different brand names including Safeway, Jewel, Osco, Vons, etc throughout the United States, but they still don't understand pricing strategy. They refuse to adopt EDLP (everyday low price) on all items and still use the archaic system of weekly ads where they put certain items on sales/discount, usually 20-30% of items in the store, buy everything else unjustifiably expensive.
Customer volume is pathetic compared to the competition going back to 2022. Yes, there's been inflation for the last 5 years, but Albertson's refuses to adapt to customer buying patterns which are sensitive to price, even their canned generic/store brands are pricey. No one should buy the stock on the dip, it's become a ship to nowhere like Verizon stock.
