Ive been looking at the Caplin appointment and everyone is focusing on the Hollywood stuff. True Detective. Ali. Rolling Stone. Thats cool but honestly the part that matters more for NRED is way less sexy.
Caplin was CEO of Starium Inc. An encryption technology startup. He built and sold security tech. He knows intellectual property. He knows how to protect it. He knows how to commercialize it.
Now look at what NRED did in the past three months. Provisional patent filed in April. Non provisional US patent filed in May. Both covering AI driven mineral exploration with probabilistic scoring. Thats two patents in two months for a junior copper explorer.
Most juniors have zero intellectual property. They own claims at most. But actual patents? Defensible AI algorithms? None. NRED is building a moat while everyone else is just staking more ground.
The digital mining market is about $72 billion. The AI and analytics segment is growing at 11% annually. In software markets the companies with patent protection capture the margins. Everyone else gets copied. Caplins presence tells me management knows this. They are building features AND building protected IP.
Kodiak. Mogotes. Tintina. Kingfisher. All solid copper juniors. None have patents. None have IP advisors. NRED is the only one treating its technology like a real asset that needs legal protection.
The fact that they filed two in two months and then hired a guy who literally ran an encryption company tells me the strategy is deliberate. They are building something defensible. And in a $72 billion market defensible software is worth a fortune.
