Look at the U.S. cell carrier market. Over the last 20 years, we went from a fragmented market to massive market saturation and full consolidation around the Big Three (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile).
I think streaming could heading down the exact same path. In 10 - 20 years, streaming will reach near total adoption in the U.S. and settle into an oligopoly of 3 dominant players, with a few niche services filling the gaps. Could be Netflix, Disney, and Paramount + HBO/Max. With a Crunchy Roll or other niche services still around. I am not sure Apple and Amazon will see value keeping their services going.
This is an idea. I am not sold on it, just popped in my head and wanted to share.
