Am considering dumping half my equity positions and moving into short term treasuries ( 2 to 5 years duration ). Main reason for this is I’m getting closer to retirement and am in more of a wealth preservation mode as I’ve done reasonably well in the market over last 20 years or so. I have enough to retire and live happy, only reason to make more would be for my kids as they are still pre college age. I’m 52 and married late in life. I don’t need luxury items, am just happy staying at home for the most part.
Only question is would it be better to move to more international value plays ? I am not skilled enough to pick winners but thinking of just ETFs or mutual funds. But if in general stocks are overvalue worldwide probably am better of in short term treasuries.
