i’m putting together a small copper watchlist and trying to keep it simple.
copper keeps showing up in the same places: power grids, data centers, EVs, defense, construction, electrical equipment and industrial buildout. supply takes years to bring online, so i want a few names on watch before the market starts caring more about future supply.
my current list:
freeport-mcmoran, FCX
big liquid copper exposure. easiest name for broad copper price exposure.
hudbay minerals, HBM
copper-gold producer with canada exposure and the copper mountain angle in BC.
teck resources, TECK
canadian miner with copper exposure, strong jurisdiction angle and useful for anyone watching critical minerals in north america.
ivanhoe mines, IVN
serious copper name through kamoa-kakula. higher quality copper asset angle, already well known.
novared mining, NRED / NREDF
small explorer bucket. BC copper-gold, Wilmac project, Quesnel belt, near Copper Mountain, with geophysics and copper target work. different category from producers, more of a future-supply watchlist name.
curious what people here look at first with copper names: mine life, jurisdiction, costs, balance sheet, permits, infrastructure, or project stage?
