Why is there so much hate for AI and AI stocks

I see this discussion a lot on this subreddit but never a true legitimate reason why AI is considered 'bad tech', I see the term AIslop thrown around a lot too. But I can't help but feel like a lot of people had similar views when the Internet first started gaining traction in the 90s.

I understand that google's AI for example gives questionable advice sometimes. But at work we have AI that is industry specific (tax in this case) and it's quite helpful. it still requires a human with judgement to analyze what the AI puts together but at the same time I couldn't imagine going back to when our team didn't have it, it seems really powerful for the industry I'm in yet my industry is just a small sliver in AIs applications.

I guess the other argument could be that it's a bubble (similar to the dot com bubble), but if that was true doesn't that mean that a lot of the heavy hitters in AI will suffer when the bubble pops but carry on for decades to come to become the mega investments of the future?

I guess I'm trying to understand what folks think. Do you think AI is just a fad? Do you think AI is powerful but the investment thesis has gone into bubble territory? Or is AI here to stay and we're in the early stages of a ultra bull run?

I will say I'm shocked at the stock market performance so far this year. Mid term years are usually choppy, but so far it's been very similar to last year and the year before, both of which were great for investors.
