**Today** IBM fell below analyst expectations of about $3.02 and $17.86 billion but it came up short and adjusted EPS was $2.93 and revenue of $17.2 billion.

CEO Arvind Krishna blamed this on weakness in the software and infrastructure business, as clients shifted spending toward hardware purchases like memory chips.

He also said that IBM did not adapt and move quickly enough. Large deals failed to close on the timelines the company expected, driving the majority of the shortfall.

Could software spend snap back eventually and be a good play?
Could it we still see growth in its **quantum computing** and AI technologies?
Could it truly build itself back up?
