Stop-losses in options are hard because time makes every hesitation worse

Stop-loss discipline in options feels different because the position can decay even while you’re “waiting for it to come back.”

With shares or futures, price is the main problem.
With options, price, time, and volatility all work together.

That makes ego even more expensive.

You hold because the chart still looks okay.
You wait because the thesis might still be right.
You ignore the stop because the contract already dropped too much.
Then theta keeps eating the position while you’re trying to feel better about being wrong.

That’s why I think options traders need very clear exit rules before entering.

Not just “where is my stop.”
But also “how much time am I willing to lose if this doesn’t move.”

In options, hesitation has a cost too.
