What's the idea behind buying stock of a company that doesn't pay dividend

The idea behind buying stock of a company is that you are getting ownership. When company makes profit, it pays you some dividend out of it. So, this makes sense buying stock of that company which makes the stock price go higher and higher.

But what's the rationale behind buying stock of a company that doesn't pay dividend and its stock price goes higher and higher? Why people buy such stock? Ok I get why people buying but still don't understand why they are buying?

For e.g. Sandisk doesn't pay dividend and they are earning record profits but doesn't share it with shareholders in the form of dividend but still I buy it in the hope that the price will go higher but then why price will go higher? So, we just assume that everyone will be buying it and price will go higher in future and I will be able to sell the stock on profit? But then why would anyone buy stock in the first place when they don't receive anything from the company?
