Congressman Jared Huffman (Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee) has released a staff report detailing how the official, non-partisan celebration of America's 250th anniversary was compromised by a private shadow organization.

​The Sidelining of America 250: Congress originally established a bipartisan commission to keep the birthday non-partisan. The report claims this was bypassed to launch Freedom 250, a shell company registered in Delaware.

​Taxpayer funding promised to the official commission was systematically stripped from $100 million down to $25 million, with the remaining millions routed into this private entity.
