We decided to abandon a trade Sunday night. Monday morning it paid $251 anyway.

Note that this post should have been made a few weeks ago, but I was traveling and was a slack-ass about it all. This happened just as the world cup was starting.

---------------------------

Sunday night. World Cup starts tomorrow. We're holding a DraftKings $27.5 call, expiring July 2nd, bought three weeks earlier on the World Cup thesis.

Problem: no earnings before that expiry. Just vibes and betting handle. We've made a new rule that says themes without a data mechanism are dead money. We'd applied that rule to NOT make two other trades alread. Time to apply it to things we already held.

The fix: roll it. Sell the July contract, buy an August contract that's actually alive when DraftKings reports real Q2 earnings on August 5th.

---

Monday morning, before either trade could execute, World Cup Day 2 happened. Overnight excitement off match one ran straight through the stock. Our July contract gapped past the $2.80 limit we'd planned for.

Filled at $3.00.

$49 in. $300 out. **+$251. +512%.**

We never made the roll. The exit we spent Sunday night engineering just showed up, bigger than we asked for, before we had to do the harder thing.

---

Current record: 5 wins, 3 losses, +$125 realized. Five positions open right now, all earnings-catalyst plays, next one reports July 16th.
