My sector rotation system had no top pick this week — that IS the signal
Every week I scan 23 sector ETFs for institutional money flow — momentum, volume ratio, and RSI. When the math lines up, I get a top pick to research going into the weekend. When it doesn't, I get nothing.
This week: nothing confirmed.
The market went flat and defensive heading into the Juneteenth long weekend.
No sector held full conviction through Thursday's close. So the system returned no top pick - and that's exactly right. Institutions were reducing risk into a long weekend, not building positions. The last thing you want is a system that forces a pick when the data doesn't support one. Sitting out IS a position.
Still watching XLB (Materials) from last week's signal. Breakouts in individual stocks typically lag the sector signal by 1–3 weeks, so buy stops placed last weekend are still live. No need to chase anything new while last week's setup is still in play.
Anyone else track sector rotation before picking individual stocks? Curious how others handle quiet weeks.
