I am a value investor looking for investing ideas in the US stock market. If you have a high conviction idea, let me know the ticker and I will do a detailed analysis on the company. I will also share my personal analysis so that everyone can make an opinion for themselves.
Generally speaking, here are the things that I am looking for...
**Revenue and Earnings Growth:** Look at the trend over the last 3 to 5 years. Is the company consistently growing its top line (sales) and bottom line (net profit)? Erratic or declining numbers are an immediate red flag.
**Profit Margins:** High net profit margins indicate that a company has strong pricing power and can control its costs. Compare these margins against industry competitors to see who is running the tightest ship.
**Debt-to-Equity Ratio:** How much debt is funding the business? A high debt load can crush a company during economic downturns or periods of rising interest rates. Look for companies with manageable leverage.
**Free Cash Flow (FCF):** This is the actual cash left over after the company pays for its operating expenses and capital expenditures. Robust free cash flow allows a company to pay dividends, buy back shares, reinvest in growth, or pay down debt.
**Valuation Metrics:** Don't just look at the stock price. Use ratios like **P/E** (Price-to-Earnings) or **P/S** (Price-to-Sales) to determine if the company is reasonably valued, overvalued, or an absolute bargain relative to its peers and historical averages.
