IREN: My Bull Case for 2026

AI is not my field, so take this as an investor trying to learn rather than an expert opinion.

I recently started building a position in IREN and wanted to share why it has become one of my highest-conviction AI infrastructure plays.

I'm also posting this to get feedback from people who know the industry better. Please challenge my assumptions!

**My thesis**

* Demand for AI compute, data centers, and power continues to accelerate
* IREN has secured over **4.5 GW of power capacity** across North America to build next-generation data centers for AI and high-performance computing
* The company already operates large-scale power and data center infrastructure, which I believe could become a valuable asset as AI demand grows
* They transitioned away from BTC mining in Q2 2025 but the market still appears to value IREN primarily through the lens of Bitcoin mining, while I believe the AI opportunity may become a larger part of the story over time
* Nvidia said earlier this month that it would invest [up to $2.1 billion](https://www.reuters.com/business/nvidia-invest-up-21-billion-iren-part-ai-data-center-deal-2026-05-07/) in IREN, as part of a broader deal to deploy up to 5 gigawatts of infrastructure
* IF (big IF) they execute well commissioning could increase IREN's ARR to $4.4 billion. At **6x-10x revenue** would imply an enterprise value of **$26B–44B** i.e. 18%-200% gain from the current price point

**Risks**

* AI demand growth slows
* Heavy capital expenditures pressure returns
* Management not able to change the Bitcoin narrative weakness impacts sentiment
* Larger and better-capitalized competitors capture most of the AI infrastructure opportunity

IREN is a speculative position with real risks. However, if AI spending remains elevated over the next several years and IREN executes well, I think the company has a realistic chance to surprise the market.

Interested in hearing the strongest bear case from people who follow the sector closely.
