The longer the Strait of Hormuz crisis goes on, the more likely countries, including US allies, will be willing to pay Iran to get oil out of the Middle East Gulf, according to Cass Technava.
The Greek broker said as energy prices climb and countries deal with shortages, buyers will become more willing to accept Iran’s terms.
“While Iran’s desire to place a toll for transiting is not new, and has been categorically rejected by the US, which has warned shippers multiple times over the past weeks against paying, there is little evidence to suggest that such arrangement will not be successful for Tehran,” it said.
