Hoping someone who knows for sure how this is done can help me. What documents do the stock-transfer companies (such as Computershare) require to transfer stocks from a deceased parent to an adult child? None of the stocks have a "transfer on death" (TOD) notice.
Background: My father died earlier this year and left me and my sibling a list of individual stocks to be inherited by us. He did not use the internet so only had paper files, and nothing was TOD.
And if anyone knows the basic steps in the process, that too would be very helpful. Thanks.
