I don't mean to sound like an emotional wreck but I'm having a much harder time dealing with the emotional aspect of investing and need some advice from experienced investors. I have my selection of stocks that I picked after doing extensive research of each of them. I thought I was doing to right thing, the responsible thing by investing in fast growing companies that had recently had a significant pull back from the highs.
All 12 of my picks are in the tech sector, specifically AI, hardware, infrastructure and security. None are in software related tech. Here's where I went wrong, I saw stocks in the same sector as mine had gone up 200% in a year, 400% in 18 months, 800% in 3 years and 3000% in 5 years and I thought "this can't continue, the stock is clearly over extended".
But what I've learned is a stock can go up 300% in a year and go up another 300% the next year no problem, it simply doesn't matter how much the stock goes up, what matters is are there more people selling or more people buying.
There are no profit takers in this current market. So why am I wasting my time trying to find "discounted" stocks, when I should just accept reality and jump into whatever stock is currently at all time highs? Because you can get your bottom dollar a company that is at all time highs will double or triple in value in the next 12 months. Because that's the kind of market we are in now.
So getting back to the title of my post, some of my stocks are up, some are down, overall I am up 8% in 6 months. Which I consider failure, I am losing. We are in the biggest bull run since covid and I feel like I am losing money... what the actual fuck do I do?
