Most of you goons have never heard of the handheld ultrasound company Butterfly Network (BFLY). So here's a brain wave for you...
Butterfly’s \*Ultrasound-on-Chip\* is the only tech small/flexible enough to power non-invasive, implantable brain-machine interfaces. They’ve got a 5-year, $20M co-development deal with Forest Neurotech to build the world’s first whole-brain neural interface. Forest just spun out Merge Labs, a new BCI startup backed by Sam Altman and OpenAI. Merge is explicitly ditching invasive electrode-based tech for the ultrasound-driven approach Butterfly pioneered.
Merge Labs/OpenAI are building an AI Operating System for the Brain using Butterfly’s hardware... neurons can then talk to AI without stabbing the brain with needles... Hooray! Neuralink stabs your brain with $9B valuation. BFLY shifted from medical device firm to AI/Semiconductor platform and sitting at $1.5B market cap.
Earnings are April 30.
