Coming off as a gambler, I really need to adjust my mentality in the stock market.

Sorry to disappoint you, I didn’t just pick a meme stock and lose my life savings.

Instead, the stock market just changed how I view the world.

I started gambling when I was young. For me, everything was a zero-sum game, it was very binary. If I won, someone had to lose. Everything was about the odds.

The stock market is different. When I first started, I still had that binary thinking: what goes up must come down (or the other way around). To win big, I thought I needed to find stocks that people were betting against (shorting).

However, it’s not like that at all. It’s really a positive-sum game. We (at least what i planned to do) find good company, give them capital so they can grow even more. We can all win together.
