Everyone thinks this is or will be a buying opportunity. This could be naive.

Hooray, stocks are down. Buy low and sell high. Only suckers are getting out now. Discipline. Ignore the noise. Dollar cost average. Ignore the day to day, long term is what matters. Just stick to index funds. Global index funds. Balanced funds. Long term gains. Buying opportunity. Healthy correction. The companies are still making lots of money. They're growing. Buying opportunity. Buying opportunity. It's a buying opportunity.

There is no law that says the market will be higher in a year or two or three, and there's no law that there isn't a LONG way down from here. No one knows. What I do know is that even before Iran, there were signs. Outside of the stock market, people seem stretched. Shit is expensive. We signed up for mortgages and cars with high payments. Stock prices are high too - many don't make much sense (to me) - TSLA, Palantir. Even Walmart and Costco last I checked. Now SpaceX is supposed to IPO at 30 times the size of Boeing. Boeing has 180,000 employees and a 10 year backlog. SpaceX has 13,000 employees and a 3 year backlog. And competition is growing fast, heck Iran of all places was moving towards commercial launches. All this in the context that we haven't had a true dip since 2020, and that one may have taught us the wrong lesson - that every dip is a buying opportunity, it always comes back fast and goes higher. Fast. Easy. But the reality is no one actually knows the future.

Now Iran is a fuck-up of *monumental* proportions. Yes Iran were assholes playing a complex game of violating agreements, supporting terrorists, and making false promises. So what? What else is new? But now we've gone and kicked over the chess table. We've killed a bunch of kids. They're not backing down. Air power doesn't seem like enough. Overall, this is going to have long term implications on global energy and security which affects the economy.

No. One. Knows.
