What do you all think will happen when AGI and super general intelligence arrives
Everyone's talking about AGI but the range of outcomes is wild:
**Best case:** We solve disease, energy, climate basically every hard problem gets cracked open. Progress accelerates beyond anything we can imagine.
**Scariest case (and it's not Terminator):** A system way smarter than us optimizes for the wrong thing and we can't course-correct. The alignment problem is real.
**Most likely disruption:** If AGI does most cognitive work, human labor tanks in value overnight. The question becomes who owns and controls these systems. A handful of companies holding the keys to superintelligence should terrify everyone.
**The skeptic take:** Current architectures hit a wall, true AGI is decades away, and we're in a hype cycle.
Honestly the uncertainty IS the story. The range of outcomes goes from "golden age of humanity" to "existential threat" and we don't have governance frameworks for either.
