Looking to cash out of Caterpillar and use the proceeds towards a home.

I'm currently looking to cash out on a big position I have with caterpillar. Have had the position since the early 2000's so there will be a tax hit but obviously owning a home is a priority for our family. Does anybody have advice or feedback relating to a scenario like this?
