Most RWA talk in crypto is about stocks or private credit. There’s another big real market that’s starting to come onchain: reinsurance.
Reinsurance is basically 'insurance for insurance companies' It’s how insurers spread risk for things like home, auto and other real world policies
RE is bringing that capital flow onchain:
* Users deposit stablecoins
* Capital is deployed into regulated reinsurance structures (via trust accounts)
* Yield comes from real insurance premiums, not emissions or trading games
* Everything is tracked onchain with proof of reserves and transparent accounting
The interesting part is the risk profile:
This isn’t Defi yield from leverage or basis trades. It’s yield backed by real world policies that exist outside crypto.
Curious how people here think about insurance/reinsurance as an onchain RWA category
