So has there been any movement on all the promised investments in the US from tech companies and foreign countries?
So ever since "Liberation Day" there have been countless deals that have been made with President Trump to heavily invest in the US. Dozens of countries have promised to throw hundreds of billions of dollars into the US. Almost every single tech company has promised some kid of major investment. Many of these deals were made several months ago but I have seen nothing on any significant progress being made in terms of manufacturing investment.
After doing some digging, all I can find are data centers being built around the US for AI. From my limited understanding, while AI is huge, in terms of manufacturing it is quite minimal as it is basically just allowing models to train on stored data, and once built, these centers basically just become massive servers that aren't continuously producing goods.
Curious if other people have better info on what this promised "manufacturing boom" that Trump has promised will look like in 2026. I know this is quite a naive, and somewhat overly optimistic question to ask, but we did see an uptick in GDP due to increased exports and it will be interesting to see if we see a further uptick in 2026.
