NVIDIA just announced its BIGGEST acquisition ever - and it’s the fourth in a row
NVIDIA ($NVDA) has agreed to acquire **Groq** *(yes, with a “q” - not Grok, the AI model on X)*, a high-performance AI accelerator chip designer, for about $20 bn in cash - marking the largest acquisition in the company’s history.
Groq was founded by former Google engineers and focuses on specialized AI chips optimized for ultra-low-latency inference.
This marks NVIDIA’s 4th (!!!) major acquisition in a row.
The company already holds meaningful strategic stakes in:
* Synopsys,
* OpenAI, and
* CoreWeave
The strategy looks clear: *greater diversification across the semiconductor and AI value chain...*
But the real question is this:
1. Are we actually witnessing **smart diversification** that strengthens NVIDIA’s long-term moat?
2. Or is this drifting into **“diworsification”** \- the classic syndrome of companies with effectively unlimited capital expanding simply because they can?
