OpenAI reportedly aiming for 1 trillion dollar IPO valuation is this still an opportunity

OpenAI is talking with banks and law firms about an IPO, and the internal target is \~ 1 trillion dollar valuation….? If it lists at that size, it would sit next to Apple, Microsoft and Nvidia at the top of the tech market. The rough timeline is filing in the second half of 2026, trading between late 2026 and 2027, and raising at least 60 billion dollars, with the final size based on growth and market mood.

For a company this big, most of the real upside usually happens before the IPO, Early shares stay with the founding team, large funds, and strategic partners, so by the time regular investors see the ticker, the valuation has already moved through several rounds. But, on the private side it is no longer only traditional VC. There are new setups that try to break unlisted equity into smaller pieces and make it easier to register and track. One is Jarsy, which is moving in that direction and wants to narrow the gap in information and access between the primary and secondary markets, although risk and regulation are still in a testing stage.

If OpenAI finally comes to market at close to 1 trillion dollars, it will reset the pricing anchor for the whole AI sector and make it very clear who was inside long before the listing. For most people in here, the real question is whether an IPO like this is still an actual entry point or just an exit door for early money?
