Like many of you, I’m always hunting for ways to dodge high gas fees and slow transactions during peak crypto hours. I’ve used Optimism and Arbitrum, which are solid for Ethereum L2s, but I’m still on the lookout for something faster and more flexible. SOON caught my eye this weekend, and it’s got some serious potential.
SOON (Solana Optimistic Network) is a Layer 2 rollup that blends Solana’s speedy Virtual Machine (SVM) with Ethereum’s base-layer security. What stood out to me was the “decoupled SVM” design basically separating execution from consensus, which lets it process smart contracts with fewer bottlenecks. That could be huge for scaling DeFi and gaming dApps. There’s also this “Super Adoption Stack” for building custom L2s, and InterSOON for cross-chain swaps, both seem like early attempts at making the L2 more modular and interoperable.
Bitget listed SOON recently and seems to be supporting it well (wallet integration’s already there, which made testing a lot easier). They also kicked off some early liquidity activity, depositors can get up to $100 worth of SOON, depending on how much they put in, with a capped prize pool. I don’t usually chase these things, but it did push me to poke around a bit more.
Still wrapping my head around how the tokenomics play out and whether the infra can scale under real-world loads. Has anyone been digging deeper?
