Ed Yardeni, a veteran on Wall Street, has reduced the probability of a recession in the United States to 35%, moving away from the previous increase driven by trade tensions and Donald Trump's tariff policies. Initially, aggressive measures—such as a 145% tariff on Chinese imports and a 10% tariff on imports from other countries—had raised recession fears; however, the decision to postpone some of these tariffs has helped calm the market.
In addition, while some leading indicators signal a possible contraction, coincident indicators and a robust employment report (with an increase of 177,000 jobs and record income figures) underscore the resilience of the labor sector.
