With around 1,350 properties in North America and the UK, Ventas ($30B market cap) portfolio includes over 800 senior housing communities, as well as outpatient medical buildings, research centers, and healthcare facilities.Overall, the company has done well compared to the overall stock market with a price close to the 52 weeks and 5 year high of $71.
Tariffs and global trade currently have limited impact on Ventas, as payments for senior housing, medical, and nursing services come from private pay, private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. However, significant cuts to Medicare or Medicaid could seriously affect Ventas' business model. I'm not fully aware of the proposed changes—if anyone has personal experience that could illustrate how such cuts might affect a parent's care or costs, please feel free to share.
