There are still 20% tariffs against iPhone and other electronics from China.
I thought as much and asked Grok. Here is the answer:
As of April 12, 2025, smartphones and computers, including those imported from China, are exempt from the 125% reciprocal tariffs and the 10% baseline global tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection notice. However, a 20% tariff related to China's role in the fentanyl trade still applies to these goods.
This means that for phones imported from China, the current effective tariff rate is 20%.
