WHY did Trump enact tariffs? If we can understand the why we can better invest.

I swear I do not mean this to be a political rant. However, if we have an idea of why Trump is doing what he is doing we can better plan our investments in the future. Yes, tariffs are dumb, etc. but that is not the point of this post.

Some options to get us started (please add more):

1 - it is a plan to crash the US economy so it can rise up again with many privatized government services. In which case the market will continue to go down.

2 - he is a Russian agent meant to cause harm and distrust of America throughout the world. Market will continue to go down.

3 - he is genuinely lacks an understanding of the world and honestly believes he is doing something good for America. Once he understands the negative impact he will reverse course.

4 - he gets a lot of attention from the media which is all he wants and this will reserve course soon enough.
