When selling stocks, I've learned that you can specify selling shares that were purchased at different price points. If I'm selling shares, is it better to sell ones first that were purchased at higher prices or at the lowest prices? Hypothetically say, if over time I acquired 20 at $30/share, 20 at $75/share, and 20 at $100/share, now it's at $150/share and I want to sell 20 shares, which ones would be the better to sell?\*
What informs your decision?
